While much of Europe’s top-flight football pauses for the international break, France’s Ligue 3 offers a different proposition: competitive football, traditional grounds and, in many cases, remarkably inexpensive tickets.
But cheap admission does not necessarily mean good value. A €5 ticket is less appealing if the home side rarely scores. So a FootyCabin analysis compared the cheapest standard adult ticket at every Ligue 3 club with each team’s recent home scoring record to answer a more interesting question:
How much does a home goal effectively cost a supporter?
The analysis combines each club’s home league record from the entire 2025/26 season with its home matches played so far in 2026/27.
Crucially, clubs were followed across divisions. Teams promoted from National 2 have their 2025/26 National 2 home record included, while relegated clubs Amiens and Bastia are assessed using their Ligue 2 home performances from last season. That avoids treating the current Ligue 3 field as though all 18 clubs competed at the same level a year ago.
Fleury 91 offers the best goals-for-money value in Ligue 3
On this measure, FC Fleury 91 comes out at just €3.09 per expected home goal.
The Paris-region club has scored 34 times across 21 home league matches in the combined period, an average of 1.62 goals per game. With a standard adult ticket available for only €5, few clubs can match that combination of low admission price and attacking output.
Newly promoted La Roche Vendée Football is close behind. Its 47 goals in 20 home matches amount to an exceptional 2.35 goals per game, the highest scoring rate in the study. With adult admission at €8, that works out at approximately €3.40 per home goal.
FC Versailles also performs strongly. A €5 ticket paired with an average of 1.40 home goals per match produces a figure of €3.57 per goal.
US Thionville Lusitanos, another club whose previous-season figures come from National 2, combines a €7 ticket with an average of 1.84 home goals, equivalent to roughly €3.80 per goal.

La Roche supporters have seen more home goals than anyone else
There is another story hiding behind the ticket-price comparison.
No club in the current Ligue 3 field has produced more home goals over the period than La Roche-sur-Yon. Its 47 goals from 20 matches mean supporters have been watching an average of 2.35 home goals every time they enter Stade Henri-Desgrange.
That scoring rate comfortably exceeds Thionville’s 1.84 and Cannes’ 1.74.
It also underlines why simply comparing ticket prices can be misleading. Fleury has the lowest cost per goal primarily because its €5 entry price is exceptionally cheap. La Roche, by contrast, owes its position to an unusually productive home attack.
Promotion and relegation make the comparison more revealing
This season’s Ligue 3 is not a closed group.
AS Cannes, La Roche Vendée Football and US Thionville Lusitanos came into the division after playing in National 2 in 2025/26. Their scoring figures therefore include their home matches at that level.
At the other end of the pyramid, Amiens SC and SC Bastia arrived from Ligue 2, meaning their previous-season data comes from a higher division.
That distinction matters particularly in Bastia’s case. The Corsican club scored only 13 times across the 22 home league fixtures included in the study, an average of approximately 0.59 goals per match. With the cheapest standard adult ticket priced at €15, that produces a figure of approximately €25.38 per expected home goal.
That should not be interpreted as a prediction of what will happen in Bastia’s next match. It is a backward-looking value measure based on recent home scoring and the current entry price.
€5 football remains possible in France
Perhaps the most striking feature of the data is how accessible several Ligue 3 grounds remain.
Both Fleury 91 and Versailles offer standard adult entry from €5. Thionville and Villefranche begin at €7, while Caen, La Roche-sur-Yon, Paris 13 Atletico and Rouen can all be watched from €8.
Even among the 18 clubs studied, only Bastia reaches €15 as its cheapest standard adult option.
For supporters priced out of the upper reaches of European football, that gives the French third tier an increasingly compelling selling point: the opportunity to watch meaningful professional football for little more than the cost of a drink and a meal in many major cities.
How the study was calculated
For each club, we added together its home league goals and home league matches in 2025/26 and 2026/27 to date.
The analysis uses 2025/26 home league data and 2026/27 home league data available as of 1 October 2026. Ticket prices were also recorded as of that date and may change.
The combined home scoring rate was calculated as:
Total home goals ÷ total home league matches
We then divided the club’s cheapest standard adult single-match ticket by that scoring rate:
Ticket price ÷ home goals per match = € per expected home goal
Reduced tickets for children, students and other concession groups were excluded. Promotional one-off offers and season-ticket prices were also excluded wherever they could be identified.
The resulting figure is not the literal amount a supporter will pay for every goal they see. Football is far too unpredictable for that. Instead, it provides a simple way of comparing recent attacking entertainment with the price of getting through the turnstile.
And on that measure, Ligue 3 provides some striking value, particularly at Fleury, La Roche-sur-Yon, Versailles and Thionville.
